• he Poughkeepsie City School District Wellness Committee is comprised of staff, faculty, administration, families and community partners. We currently meet the 2nd Thursday of every month at the Poughkeepsie Middle School from 3:15 – 4:30. We encourage every building within the district, as well as administration, the Board of Education, students and families to share their thoughts, ideas and experiences as it relates to wellness for the District.

Mission:  We, the Poughkeepsie City School District Wellness Committee, are committed to establishing and maintaining a school environment that promotes health and well-being.  By providing structure and support for staff, administration, students, and families, we hope to ensure that all schools within the Poughkeepsie School District are equipped with the necessary tools to promote healthy and active lifestyles within our school community. We are dedicated to helping communicate and implement the local school wellness policy, required and established by the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004.

Vision: The Poughkeepsie City School District Wellness Committee envisions a community free of chronic disease that understands, embraces and practices lifelong wellness where they live, work, play and learn through nutritious food consumption and active living.
