School bus service update: What to expect and who to call
Today is a historic day in the Poughkeepsie City School District with the first day of bus service for many of our elementary students.
We understand the first day, though, has brought challenges. Several bus routes have ran behind schedule, creating confusion. As each route is new and so many students are being served, bus drivers have needed extra time this morning at each stop to verify and ensure each student is being served properly.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as this service is fully integrated into the school district.
For roughly the first week of service, we advise parents and families to arrive at bus stops at their designated times, but expect a delay of up to 10 minutes. We understand this may create unanticipated hardship but we are confident it will be only a temporary growing pain. Of course, you can also refer to the BusRight app for the latest update on the bus route.
Anyone with questions at their stops can call the bus service directly at 845-454-3065 or the district transportation department at 845-451-4900 x2220 or by emailing droger@poughkeepsieschools.org.
