Together, We are Champions for Children in Poughkeepsie City Schools
Though classes have ended and the academic year is closing, there are still important surveys and comment periods happening now as the Poughkeepsie City School District continues to evolve to better serve students and families. One survey’s deadline is today, June 27.
Read about each opportunity to be heard below:
Five-Year Strategic Plan: The district’s current strategic plan will expire June 30 and the process of finalizing the next plan, which will shape the next five years of the district, is underway. Your involvement is an important part of that process as we redevelop our priorities, goals and actions.
The online survey platform at this link allows you to contribute your thoughts anonymously, and you can also view and rate the feedback provided by other community members. Today is the last day to take part.
Poughkeepsie Middle School Comprehensive Educational Plan (SCEP): The SCEP is a strategic blueprint that guides efforts to improve student learning and overall well-being, and PMS is in the process of forming its SCEP for the 2025-26 school year. As part of a commitment to continuous improvement and family engagement, input is gathered from all school community members, including parents and guardians, through a brief survey. This feedback will help identify areas of strength and areas for growth, ensuring the SCEP effectively addresses the needs of students and families.
Participation in this survey is crucial because it provides insights that will inform the decision-making and planning process for the upcoming school year. Sharing perspectives will help:
• Better understand what you think about the school.
• Identify key areas for improvement in our educational programs and services.
• Ensure the plan aligns with the needs and priorities of the school community.
• Strengthen collaboration to support the achievement of our SCEP goals.

PCSD 2025-26 Code of Conduct Public Comment period: The district has released a finalized draft of its Code of Conduct for the 2025-26 school year, which can be viewed here. Copies of the draft are also available through the District Clerk’s Office. A public hearing on the draft is scheduled for roughly 5:45 p.m. July 2, during the Board of Education’s reorganizational meeting, at the Jane Bolin administration building.
The district is accepting comments on the draft at the hearing, or through mail or email. Email District Clerk Beck Torres at btorres@poughkeepsieschools.org or send mail to 18 St. Perry St., Poughkeepsie, NY, 12601, c/o Becky Torres.
