Students visit Culinary Institute to explore career path opportunities
In mid-December, 23 Poughkeepsie High School students visited the Culinary Institute of America for an admissions presentation and campus tour with student ambassadors. The visit gave students meaningful exposure to culinary arts, hospitality and related career pathways.
“Students were very engaged throughout the visit and asked thoughtful questions,” said College Readiness and Workforce Education Counselor Kelly Semexant. “Many shared afterward that the experience helped them better understand what a culinary career could look like and sparked new interest.”
She said the student ambassadors “did a great job engaging students and sharing what life at CIA is really like.”
Semexant is in discussions with the CIA regarding how the schools and collaborate to expand student opportunities in the future.
“It was a strong example of how nearby partnerships can create impactful, hands-on career exposure for our students,” she said.
