Summer Programs

Through the Poughkeepsie City School District and community partners throughout the City of Poughkeepsie, students have a variety of academic, enrichment and recreational options for how to get the most out of the summer months, many of them free of charge to families. Take a look at many of those options.

PCSD programs

  • Dates: July 7-30, Mondays-Thursdays

    Time: 9 a.m. to noon

    What: Academic-based learning programming for grades K-5

    Where: Grades K-2 at Krieger Elementary; Grades 3-5 at Truth Elementary

    Cost: Free

    Space: 240 total students, available until it is full

  • Dates: July 7 to Aug. 13, Mondays-Thursdays

    Time: 9 a.m. to noon

    What: Academic support programming for grades 6-8, by invitation

    Where: Poughkeepsie High School

    Cost: Free

  • Dates: July 7 to Aug. 13, Mondays-Thursdays

    Time: 9 a.m. to noon

    What: Summer school for grades 9-12, by invitation, to help students catch up, earn credits or get ahead to be on track for graduation

    Where: Poughkeepsie High School

    Cost: Free

  • Dates: July 6 to Aug. 14, Mondays-Fridays

    Time: 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

    Where: Krieger Elementary School

    Who: Grades K-12 as determined by a student’s IEP

    Cost: Free

  • Dates: July 7-30, Mondays-Thursdays

    Time: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

    What: The summer component of a larger early college program that begins in the ninth grade in which students can accrue college credits.

    Where: Dutchess Community College

  • Dates: July 6 to Aug. 14, Mondays-Fridays

    Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    Who: Ages 6-12

    What: Summer program with limited space that provides enrichment in arts, music, sports, dance and field trips.

    Time: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

    Where: Oakwood Friends School

    Who: Ages 5-11

    What: Program hosted by Oakwood Friends School and The Art Effect teaching creativity through art

    Cost: $500 for non-members, $475 fort members
