Poughkeepsie High School football team seniors took time during the holiday season to show appreciation for the staff members who helped them become the people they are today.
The seniors, with coach Jayquan Floyd, school caseworker Jennifer McQueen-Sealy and Executive Director of School Engagement Da'Ron Wilson, traveled to buildings around the district to visit teachers who they felt had a substantial impact on their character and learning and gift them with a football jersey. The trips were filled with hugs, smiles and a feeling of appreciation.
Floyd explained, this has been a theme for the team this year.
“Our ‘Next Level Loading’ motto was not only about what they have done on the field, but also what they have become through the years during their time in Poughkeepsie,” he said. “Promoting academic achievement, character building, community service and gratitude through the year has led them to this ‘jersey gift.’ They were definitely spreading the cheer today!”
