Pierce White
The Rochester native assumed the role as assistant principal for sixth graders at the middle school in January 2024 after being a social studies teacher for more than a decade. It’s his first position as an administrator since attaining his master’s degree to be a school administrator from Hunter College in 2023. White previously taught high school social studies in Harlem for three-and-a-half years, was a middle school social studies teacher in Brooklyn for seven years and a social studies teacher at Washington, D.C. for two years.
White earned his bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in Spanish language and culture, and his first master’s degree in adolescent education, both from the University of Rochester. He enjoys traveling, running, cooking and going to concerts and museums.
“I want to help create the best middle school experience as possible for the students. I hope I’m able to help middle schoolers become the best version of themselves here, and along with the teachers, make sure they are as prepared as possible for when they enter high school, to be successful there and for that to help them with the rest of their lives once they leave here,” he said.
Danielle Green, Climate and Culture
Green, a Brooklyn native, earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice and paralegal studies from SUNY Sullivan, a bachelor’s degree in black studies with a focus in law and politics from SUNY New Paltz, a master’s in teaching from Fordham University and a second master’s degree in educational leadership and supervision from Mercy College.
Green taught social studies at Poughkeepsie High School and left for about 18 months to serve in her first administrative position at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School before returning to Poughkeepsie City School District in 2023.
“I’m able to work with our sixth, seventh and eighth graders,” she said. “I get to know many students on each grade level. I try to tap into what our students are interested in and bring that to life in the building so they may have outlets and ways to celebrate their different talents and interests in the building.”
