Capital Bond Project
Project overview and timeline
On Tuesday, October 20, 2020, the community approved Poughkeepsie City School District’s Capital Improvement Project. This project allows us to fulfill our commitment to our students to provide an enriching 21st Century learning experience. This website is designed to provide information and updates to our community related to this project. Use the navigation pages to the left to learn more.
Work on the project will be coordinated in five phases over a period of eight years, with the bulk of the work occuring during the summer so as to not interrupt learning time. The early anticipated completion date is fall 2028.
The first part of the work began in summer 2021, with Phase 1A, encompassing roof and digital sign replacement work at the Early Learning Center, Morse Elementary School and Clinton Elementary School. At ELC, chimney replacement and re-lining was also done along with the removal of the old gymnasium floor.
You may recall that the project was divided into two propositions.
Proposition 1 primarily was to fund building security, infrastructure and site projects including roof replacements, renovations to restrooms, mechanical equipment upgrades and security enhancements.
Propositon 2 provided for districtwide building renovations to overhaul school instructional programs and develop educational pathways for each school.
