The Poughkeepsie City School District offers bus transportation services to and from school for all elementary students who live more than a half-mile radius from their school building, in addition to all pre-kindergarten students and students with disabilities, in accordance with their Individual Education Plan, and students in grades PK-5 who attend private and charter schools located within the city.
Please note, the distance from the school is calculated using a radius, not the distance a vehicle would need to travel to reach a school.

Yes, transportation is also available for elementary students whose childcare center is more than a half-mile from their school.
The full policy, 8410-R, is available on the Board of Education webpage. But here’s what to know:
An alternate pick up or drop off location is eligible if…
- it is within city district limits and nearby an authorized bus stop that is deemed safe by the PCSD transportation department;
- is a licensed daycare center or other district-approved location;
- meets district mileage limitations;
- the student is visiting on a consistent schedule.
Request an alternate pickup or drop off location by using the Add/Drop/Change Request Form, which is also available at your child’s school or at Central Registration. All forms must be submitted directly to the Central Registration office located inside the Jane Bolin Administration Building, 18 S. Perry St.

BusRight is a routing company partnering with the Poughkeepsie City School District. In addition to helping create the routes, BusRight’s technology on each bus allows parents to see their student’s bus stop, route, estimated time of arrival and other key information through a downloadable app.
-
Parents/guardians new to the service are sent an email from Support@BusRight.com with a subject line “You’re Invited to BusRight.” The personalized invitation will contain a link to create an account with BusRight.
