Together, We are Champions for Children in Poughkeepsie City Schools
Gregory Mott was officially made Superintendent of Schools July 1. Mott has spent nearly 30 years as an educator, the last five in Poughkeepsie as assistant superintendent for elementary education, and has had his fingerprints on several key district initiatives, including Elementary Reconfiguration, adopting and implementing a research-based K-8 ELA and math curriculum and getting each elementary school a “good standing” designation from the state Education Department.

The Poughkeepsie City School District this fall reconfigured its elementary schools to better serve the educational and wellness needs of students. Rather than four schools dedicated to grades 1-5 and a fifth for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students, the district now has two schools – Truth and Krieger – serving grades PK-2 and three schools – Clinton, Smith and Warring – for grades 3-5.
As part of this change, the district is able to offer school bus service to any elementary student who lives at least a half-mile radius from their school.
