DCC partnership yields High School Equivalency class
Poughkeepsie City School District, in partnership with Dutchess Community College, is offering High School Equivalency classes for parents and community members through the district's Parent Empowerment Center. Sessions are tentatively scheduled to begin in Feb. 16.
Classes will be offered as a wholly online class with morning or evening sessions available at all levels, Basic and Achieve. There will also be a hybrid option, with the in-preson portion taking place in Poughkeepsie once per week. Only the morning sessions will offer the Achieve level. Masks and social distancing will be required.
The cost of the course is $20, but that shouldn't deter anyone who is interested, since some community donors have already said they would provide scholarships, Natasha Cherry, interim executive director of community schools for PCSD said.
