Achievement, opportunities marked 23-24

As the proud superintendent of the Poughkeepsie City School District, I wanted to take a heartfelt moment to express my gratitude for your partnership throughout this academic year. As with the prior year, this year has been filled with remarkable achievements and meaningful new opportunities for all Poughkeepsie City School District students.

Elevating student success continues to be the core focus of the Poughkeepsie City School District. Through an evidenced-based approach that involves collaboration between school, home and community, and the district’s Five-Year Strategic Plan, remarkable things have occurred throughout the district (See 2020-2024 Milestone Achievements). From creating greater opportunity and access for all students to maximize their potential and interest to all elementary schools being designated as “Good Standing” this year, there are truly exciting things occurring that demonstrate student success is being elevated.

June 30 closed the 2023-24 academic year. On behalf of myself, the Board of Education, and the central office administration, I want to thank all district principals, teachers, staff, parents and community members for your commitment to elevating student opportunities and success this school year. Together, we have provided a higher level of learning and positive youth development opportunities to all children.

Our collective impact will truly support the future citizens and leaders of our community. I am excited about what is in store for the upcoming school year and look forward to what our collaborative impact will yield.

In closing, I would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Felicia Watson for her nine years of service as a Poughkeepsie City School District Board of Education trustee.

As a stalwart pillar of the district's governance team, her contribution to championing the success of all students has been immeasurable. Her dedication and commitment to the school district has led to demonstrable growth in the district nurturing all children by providing innovative, high-quality educational opportunities that prepare them to embark on individual paths of success in a globally diverse community. You will be missed.
