Board reorganizes for 2024-25 year
The Poughkeepsie City School District Board of Education will be led by Fatimah Carmen Martinez Santiago in the 2024-25 academic year.
As per board policy and educational law, the board held its annual organization meeting Monday, July 1. The purpose of the organizational meeting is to swear in newly elected members, elect officers of the board and make appointments and designations of other district employees for the proper management of the district during the school year (see BOE Policy 2210).
Martinez Santiago and Kelleyann Royce-Giron were both sworn in for three-year terms ending June 30, 2027.
Martinez Santiago, the vice president in 2023-24, was the only member nominated to serve as president and was elected unanimously. She takes the reins from Hon. Thomas O’Neill. The board elected Bob Creedon to serve as the vice president. Both positions carry one-year terms.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m. and will be located at the Columbus Administration Building. 18 S. Perry St.
