Platform offers public new option for information
Delivering against one of the strategic priorities of the District's 5-Year Strategic Plan to engage and expand partnerships with community stakeholders, the Poughkeepsie City School District will soon offer a "Community Portal” to the community. This notification system provides Poughkeepsie community-based organizations, vested community members, and business owners with important information and updates.
The portal expands the district’s parent communication platform, "Parent Square." It will provide updates on school closures, early dismissals, community meeting notices, Community Schools, athletics, arts education events, and other pertinent information and updates. The intent is to support the district and community's collective impact on addressing the needs of Poughkeepsie City School District children.
"We are constantly seeking ways to strengthen the communication between the home, school, and community. Adding a Community Communication Portal is just the beginning,” said Natasha Brown, executive director of community schools. “This spring the Parent Empowerment Center will be launching a communication survey. The survey results will assist us in improving our macro-communication efforts."
Parties can sign up for the portal using the Community Communication Portal Sign-up found under the Community Corner tab on the district's website.
