Superintendent seeks community input to improve student success

As the perspectives of the community is important in the reform efforts of the Poughkeepsie City School District, Dr. Eric Jay Rosser, superintendent of schools, will continue his community outreach efforts to involve the all vested in the success of school aged children.

The first event, which took place Wednesday, Nov. 10th at Hudson Garden had a limited turnout but yielded valuable suggestions to addressing some of the emerging issues city of Poughkeepsie youth are facing.

The Superintendent is scheduled to meet with Latino families at Poughkeepsie Reformed Church located at 70 Hooker Ave on Monday, Nov. 15th from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. To learn more about this event see www.poughkeepsieschools.org.

Additionally, Dr. Rosser has invited men interested in supporting the positive youth development of the city’s males of color to join him and others Saturday, Nov. 20th to engage in solution-oriented conversations about how men can engage in meaningful activity to support our young men. The event will take place at Poughkeepsie High School and start at 9:30 a.m. and end at 11:00. Learn more about the MBK event here.

Future Superintendent’s Fireside Chats are scheduled for Jan. 11th and Apr. 2nd in the new year. Dr. Rosser is also working on logistics to host a virtual Town Hall meeting in the future.
