District, local colleges formalizing relationships to help students
District officials are meeting with the leaders of all six local colleges - Marist, Vassar, SUNY New Paltz, Bard, Mt. St. Mary’s and Dutchess Community College - to strengthen existing relationships and further our collective impact of student success throughout the region.
“Our talks center around what can we do to make students ready for college and what they (colleges) can do,” Director of Special Projects Kristina Giangreco said. “They’ve all said they have wanted to do work with us for years.”
Superintendent Dr. Eric Jay Rosser, DCC Acting President Dr. Ellen Gambino and Giangreco met last week for the first time and discussed several ways DCC and the district could partner. This week, district officials met with counterparts at SUNY New Paltz and Mt. St. Mary College. One thing being discussed with all the colleges is resurrecting a previously established working group, Giangreco said.
