Students take part in 9/11 rememberance ceremonies

Students take part in a ceremony at City HallIn honor of the 23rd anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks on our country, Poughkeepsie High School’s AFJROTC on Wednesday held a ceremony at the flagpole outside the school.

Three cadets raised the flag and Squadron Commander Cadet Salome Vergara read a timeline of events that occurred on that tragic morning.

Dozens of students, in addition to building staff and administrators attended and paid their respects.

The AFROTC members then made the trip to City Hall to take part in the City of Poughkeepsie’s official ceremony, at which Morse Elementary School students in the Mighty Young Techs program led the Pledge of Allegiance and stood at attention holding their batons.Students take part in a ceremony at Poughkeepsie High School
