full registration flyer

Registration has begun for pre-K and kindergarten classes in Poughkeepsie City School District and is being done by appointment only.
Registration dates are March 27-30, April 24-28  and May 22-25 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. each day at Smith Early Learning Center, 372 Church St., Poughkeepsie.
Pre-K eligible students are born between Dec. 1, 2018 and Dec. 1, 2019. Kindergarten eligible students are born between Dec. 1, 2017 and Dec. 1, 2018.
“We wanted to have multiple opportunities for incoming parents to make appointments and register,” Supervisor of Elementary Education Janet Bisti said. Parents will fill out the registration documents available in English, Spanish and many other languages on the registration page (just click the downward arrow and capital A for options) and then bring them with you to your appointment which you can make on our Calendly event page.
The district's pre-K program is structured to support student readiness for kindergarten using play-based instruction and is taught by certified teachers.

At the appointment, pre-K students will be DIAL screened. DIAL stands for Developmental Indicators for Assessment of Learning to help us identify if your child is at-risk or has delays in the areas of cognitive/basic concepts, language development, motor skills, self-help skills and social-emotional issues. The earlier the assessment is done, the sooner the district can provide support.

During the registration appointment, parents and guardians will be able to visit our UPK partner tables to choose which site you'd like your child to attend.
