The Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley scholarship portal is open for high school seniors to submit their applications by April 1. Five of the 34 scholarships listed are exclusive to Poughkeepsie City School District students. A description of these scholarship, guidelines, and a way to apply online can be found on the CFHV Scholarship Opportunities page.
The site offers a common application where students only fill out one application for all the scholarships, though different supplemental materials may be required for each of them. The application has a built-in eligibility quiz which informs students about which scholarships they are eligible for.
The five scholarships unique to district students are:
Barbara and John F. DeGilio Science Scholarship
David Jagaciewski Scholarship (for students who choose to pursue a career in arts, architecture, engineering, interior or fashion design, family or consumer science or landscape architecture.)
John J. Csizmar Memorial Scholarship (good character and financial need)
Pawith Educators Scholarship (community service)
Poughkeepsie High School Class of 1958 Scholarship (dedicated to those students who must apply themselves to succeed)
In addition to the application, students will need to provide academic information, financial information, a resume, essay and at least two letters of recommendation from a non-relative.
