Girls take to gridiron for pilot program
Poughkeepsie High School has a new football team that is part of a pilot program throughout the state. The varsity girls flag football team is part of a New York State Public High School Athletic Association program with about 150 teams across the state.

Louise Lynch, assistant superintendent of business, and Dr. Eric Jay Rosser, superintendent of schools, presented an update on the 2023-2024 district budget to the Board of Education (BOE) and members of the community last week in preparation of an April 12th BOE adoption of the budget.

Since late July, the central office team has been participating in a book study led by Dr. Eric J. Rosser. The book, “Change Management” by Jeff Hiatt, guides the reader to build their competency on leading and managing change in school buildings.

Breakfast honors PHS’ top students
Nearly one hundred Poughkeepsie High School seniors maintained a grade point average of 80 or better since starting their high school studies four years ago. As an early celebratory kick-off of the success of PHS seniors, 99 students were recognized at the annual Senior Honor Breakfast at PHS Thursday morning with their families joining the celebration.

Representatives of the Poughkeepsie Children's Cabinet visited the Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) recently and met with its Founder and President, Geoffrey Canada. HCZ and Canada are recognized internationally as pioneers in the development of comprehensive cradle-to-career systems of support for youth.
