Message from the Principal
We are very excited to be in our fourth year of implementing the America’s Choice School Design. The America’s Choice School Design helps us focus on five critical elements of school improvement:
1.Creating a standards-based system with assessments that monitor progress and inform instruction.
2.Aligning instruction to standards and focusing teaching on moving students from where they are to where they need to be.
3.Strengthening instructional leadership.
4.Building professional learning communities.
5.Engaging parents and the community.
The America’s Choice School Design is a coherent comprehensive design that offers exceptional materials and strategies with first rate coaching and professional development.
We look forward to seeing parents and guardians throughout the school year and encourage you to become active participants in your child’s education.

The mission of the Poughkeepsie Middle School community is to foster each child’s intellectual, social and emotional development thereby enabling every child to become a productive, lifelong learner.
Our committed staff will model this, in cooperation with all elements of the community, ensuring developmentally appropriate education and support within a respectful, safe and caring environment.
